THE POWER OF LOVE

By Don Horwitz

In a snow-covered village, 84-year-old Olga sat alone, mourning her husband who passed away three years ago. The bitter cold was piercing through her, but the pain of loneliness was excruciating. With no money for heat, she fought to stay awake, fearing if she fell asleep, she might never open her eyes again.

It was close to midnight when the phone rang at our Senior Care Home. A concerned neighbour told us about an elderly woman who hadn’t been seen for days. Our rescue team immediately set out to find her. What they discovered was absolutely heartbreaking: a frail woman, shivering uncontrollably and completely alone. We brought Olga into our warm and loving home, where she was met with open arms and our caring hearts. This dear sister broke down crying as we assured her that she was now safe and would never be alone again.

“Everyone here takes such good care of me,” said Olga. “What a gift it is to have people in my life who show me love, give me attention, and genuinely care about how I feel and what I need. The night I was rescued, I thought I’d never open my eyes again. But look at me here today—it’s a miracle!”

My family, with your life-saving Gifts of Love, we can continue to bless and save our suffering elderly Jewish brothers and sisters in their greatest time of need.

May God bless you abundantly for every one of your acts of love and kindness.
