At just ten years old, David has endured more pain than most of us could imagine in a lifetime. His childhood, once filled with dreams, was overshadowed by the constant rage of his father’s anger. The yelling, the threats, and the horrific abuse became his daily reality.
Our little David often tried to be brave, holding back his tears because he knew his mother already carried so much pain. Yet, at just 10 years old, he made sure that he protected his mother by crawling under his bed to cry in secret.
One morning just a few weeks ago, David and his mother woke up to find his father gone, taking with him the little money they had. Left with nothing but each other, David’s exhausted and broken mother turned to us for help.
When David arrived at Kalaniot, he was suffering from immense fear and trauma. But here, surrounded by our loving family and therapeutic team, he has finally found safety.
Today, David is learning what it feels like to be loved unconditionally, to sleep without fear and to dream about a future filled with happiness.
