STORY: ALEX RISES UP IN PROJECT MIFRAS

After the revolution in Ukraine, Alex, an engineering graduate, found himself unemployed and unable to support himself. Alex worked designing electrical grids for a local power company but as Ukraine’s infrastructure crumbled, his job was terminated due to the lack of funding. Alex became frustrated and despondent that there were no jobs available. He found part-time work at a local food shop stocking shelves, but even that position dried up when the shop closed. With no social services or governmental assistance of any kind, Alex was forced to beg in order to buy food.

“I REACHED THE POINT WHERE I HAD NO HOPE FOR THE FUTURE.”

“I visited a local Jewish agency for help. I reached the point where I had no hope for the future. The counsellor suggested that I apply for an aliyah programme called Project Mifras, where I would be able to move to Israel and train as a computer programmer. My hopes skyrocketed upon learning about this opportunity.”

Alex easily passed his Mifras entrance exams and was accepted into our computer programmer training programme in Be’er Sheva, Israel. He has made aliyah and now takes Hebrew classes in the morning and computer programming classes in the afternoon. It is such a privilege for us to be able to participate together in God’s plan as we help this outstanding young man make aliyah. We have given him “hope and a future” (Jeremiah 29:11) whilst assisting in the restoration of Israel.
