A LIGHT IN THE DARKNESS

"Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." Isaiah 41:10

Every evening, Tanya sat by her phone, waiting for a call from her husband, who was fighting on the front lines. “The night the phone didn’t ring was the worst day of my life,” says Tanya. “I began crying hysterically, and Maxim, my 9-year-old son, rushed to my side yelling is father ok?”

The days without hearing from the man they loved more than life, soon turned into weeks, and then months, without a single word from him.

Then when the fighting came to their neighbourhood, Tanya and Maxim were forced to run for their lives, leaving behind everything they had. After a terrifying 11-hour bus ride, the two were met with open and loving arms at our Refugee Center. There we set them up in an apartment and began providing them with all of the services and essentials they needed to stay healthy.

Once they settled in, we employed Tanya, who is a hairdresser, to provide her services to the elderly in our care while Maxim began attending our schooling program.

Then a week later, Tanya’s phone finally rang. It was her beloved husband telling her that he had been captured and was now a prisoner of war. She fell to her knees crying at the sound of his voice. Tragically, she has not heard from him again.

My family, let’s continue to support this dear family and others like them who have lost so much in their lives. May God bless you abundantly for rushing to the side of the suffering who so desperately need our tender loving care.
