KALANIOT CHILDREN’S HOME

By Don Horwitz

After adopting my three severely abused and neglected daughters from an orphanage in Siberia, I have spent over 31 years dedicated to saving the lives of orphans. During this time, I have witnessed children suffering from violence, abuse, and life-threatening neglect. Yet, through these painful experiences—what I like to call God’s training grounds—I have answered one of my greatest callings: the creation of our life-saving Kalaniot Children’s Home.

MEET ALINA & SASHA

Alina and her older sister Sasha have become cherished members of our loving Kalaniot family. Their story however, is filled with immense heartbreak.

Born into a home consumed by darkness and addiction, Alina and Sasha grew up surrounded by chaos. Their parents were drinking heavily and offered no love or stability at all, leaving these sweet girls’ days filled with shouting, violence and uncertainty.

The rare moments of kindness came from caring neighbours who would feed them when they had extra food. During one of these meals, they noticed bruising on little Alina and reported it to the police. That night, the girls were removed from their home and brought to us at Kalaniot.

After the girls settled into Kalaniot, we quickly discovered that Alina was facing immense health challenges. She was diagnosed with a serious heart condition, a sight threatening optic nerve atrophy and major dental problems caused by years of neglect.

Thank God these dear children are now under our care. Together, we can be the family that they desperately need while ensuring that they receive the life-saving treatments and tender loving care that will save their precious lives.

May God bless you abundantly for supporting our Kalaniot Children's Home. Together, with your gifts of love, we are saving and changing the lives of children who are in need of warmth, stability and our unwavering care.
